Clinton De Vere Art

I am an Australian artist living in Germany. I work with acrylic paints on canvas and ink and gouache on paper.

My work reflects my experience growing up in Papua New Guinea surrounded by the country's natural beauty and by traditional Melanesian art and culture.

At that time in the 1970s there was no TV in PNG so going to the movies was a big event. The myth and imagery of Hollywood had an impact on me. I also made Super 8 films.

In 1975 PNG became Independent. Living in PNG during this time of profound social and political change turbo-charged my creativity and gave me enough material for a lifetime.

I became interested in culture and art and in my Bachelors degree I studied Art History & Anthropology. In 2014 I completed my Masters in Visual Art from the School of Art & Design, Australian National University.

I have lived abroad most of my life. In the different cultures I have lived in, I have enjoyed putting on my ethnographic glasses and examining their characteristics and dimensions.

In my art, the marks, images and motifs are an attempt to communicate a feeling about all this experience.

I make art for people who revel in cultural diversity and who are enlivened by the psychological power of art, in all its form.

My collectors are people who love being surrounded by art that resonates with them and who have the confidence to trust their own judgment and taste.

In my shop you can find original works, as well printed posters & canvases and merchandise. Check it out!! :)
