The four paintings in the PARAMOUNT GATES series are my take on the mythology and bunk of Old Hollywood.

Each painting have a different style, palette and feeling.

The heavy, ornate facades of the gates front a world built on temporary sets and illusions.

Thinking about Cezanne's idea of the way the surface of an object tells us of its essential elements, so it is with the gates.

The bulky, geometric form strives to give substance to an industry of light and smoke.

They are portals to a cloistered world, with restricted access and with its own internal logic.
